After

There were many things I would have wanted to add looking back at the performance. I think it could have been interesting to, not for the assignment, have it go on for more than 15 minutes. With a longer performance, we could have made the difference in speed between the two scenes more extreme. So, with more scenes on each side, have each of the scenes in the restaurant be 2 minutes, where as the getting ready scenes could go from 2 minutes – 1.5 minutes – 1.25 minutes – 1 minute – 40 seconds – 30 seconds – 15 seconds. This would really make the rush of the getting ready scene clear versus the stillness of the restaurant scene.

We could also have played more with the in between character, playing both the waitress and the friend. She could have started out by doing what we did now, walking through the back to switch between scenes, but it could have been interesting to experiment with different ways of her interacting between the two sides of the stage. She could have simply walked over the invisible line dividing the stage, breaking the set boundary. In the context of waiting, this could have been because she was tired of having to wait to switch between each scene and having the actors and the audience wait for her to appear in the other scene. Especially if the scenes on the getting ready side would only have lasted a couple seconds, it would be an efficient rushed switch.
